What better way to welcome in the New Year than by dedicating Springfield's newest visual landmark, the "Welcome to Springfield" mural! Join the event page.
Located at the corner of 1st & Main Street, a key gateway to the neighborhood, some of the Springfield Historic District's most notable scenery is depicted in vibrant detail, popping off the walls of the 1912-era building canvas. Historian and author Wayne Wood will speak about the history of the building and light refreshments will be served.
SPAR commissioned the mural with funds generated from its Jacksonville Porchfest event, the annual music festival held on the porches and in the parks of Springfield. Huge thanks to all of our sponsors, including Community First Credit Union of Florida, UF Health, SMG Events and the Ritz Theatre and Museum for their support of Porchfest and the arts in Springfield. This project would not be possible without them. Special thanks to property owner Alyssa Key and and artist Grant Thorton for their vision and hard work.
