From foundations to roofs and decades of system renovations, historic properties can be hard to understand, leaving many historic home- and business-owners with questions about how best to complete necessary renovations while still maintaining their property's historic harm and adhering to historic district guidelines. Both residential and commercial renovations within Historic Districts of Jacksonville require a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA). In this workshop, representatives from the City of Jacksonville's Historic Preservation Section will discuss the process for obtaining a COA, including what requires a COA and what does not, and how to be most efficient with your time when it comes to renovating a historic property.
Additionally, Southern Brothers Inspections will discuss common defects found in historic homes, what to look out for, and when and how to best address these common issues. If you are contemplating some upgrades to your Historic Springfield home or business, you don't want to miss this informative session!
All workshops are free. Attendance is capped at 20, so registration is requested.
