Fall Community Meeting 2013

Date: 9/12/13

Location: Paul Davis Restoration warehouse at 2111 N. Liberty Street.

The purpose of the this meeting was to update the community about recent grants and discuss community priorities.

Recently awarded grants for various neighborhood projects include artistic bicycle racks, banner signage for our commercial corridors, and continued funding for a public safety program. In addition, other projects seeking grants are "Free Little Libraries" and a pilot education program through The Kona School. After this information was shared, attendees were provided a brief summary of the Spring Community Meeting where a comprehensive list of community priorities were created, and feedback from attendees was collected about what might be missing from the list. Local small business Sailors & Sparrows shared a frustration about code compliance fining them for sidewalk signage, which community leaders stated they would look to find a solution.

Over 40 people attended the meeting, including LISC representative Eugene Montgomery, who has been an integral part in having the afore mentioned grants approved.
