Residential Revival Project
In 2017, SPAR worked with a senior resident to complete a small scale exterior renovation that included necessary maintenance and repair due to the age of the home. With $1000 for materials and the help of donations and volunteer work, SPAR was able to do the equivalent of $8000 worth of repairs. Our 2018 Residential Revival project benefited a long-term Springfield disabled veteran and his wife. Thanks to generous donations and volunteer work, SPAR was able to take an initial $1,000 and turn that into the equivalent of $15,000 worth of repairs. Because of the success and continued need in the neighborhood for similar projects, SPAR will continue the program to assist a minimum of one low to moderate income resident each year with the costs of exterior maintenance and restoration of their historic homes. Our 2019 Residential Revival Project will be at 223 W 8th Street. Chris and Beth have lived in the home for the last 23 years, and raised their daughters in the home. This unique property on one of Springfield's main roads, features a butterfly style front porch. The focus of this Residential Revival Project will be on preserving this special historic feature of the home.Volunteer weekend: Our final volunteer weekend will be June 7 & 8. Sign up to volunteer! We are working on partnerships with Jacksonville businesses to preserve and revitalize this historic home in the neighborhood. If your business is interested in contributing through donation of materials, trade work, or volunteer hours, please email sparoffice@sparcouncil.org.Made possible by generous support from Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realty - Town Center, Local Initiative Support Corp.
