SPAR Council is excited to announce that banners celebrating the Historic Springfield community will be appearing on street lamps along Eighth and Main Streets this week.
We have worked closely with LISC Jacksonville's EPIC Communities initiative, UF Health, Wells Fargo's NeighborhoodLIFT Program, Operation New Hope, Springfield Area Merchants and Business Association (SAMBA) and PRI Productions to bring banners back to Springfield’s most traveled commercial corridors. The banners will be placed on every other street lamp along Main Street, from 1st Street to 12th Street, and on Eighth Street between I-95 and Ionia Street. Alternate lamp posts will be reserved for special event banners.
Artists at UF Health, guided by Springfield resident Pete Helow, created the banner design (image), which features a Henry J Klutho-inspired architectural element on a multi-toned background with “Historic Springfield” in the foreground.
This project would not have been possible without the generous financial support of all of the partners listed above.
