2015 Board of Directors Candidates

At the November 12th, 2015 annual community meeting, Membership will vote on candidates for our Board of Directors.

The current Board of Directors is confident these two candidates would be valuable assets in helping lead the Springfield Historic District forward, are proud to present them to Membership for their approval.

 

  Michelle Tappouni

Tappouni_Head_Shot.jpgMichelle moved from Riverside to Springfield in 2007, purchasing a house built in 1909 on Laura Street. Her two sisters Catherine and Mary, also call Springfield home. She has been actively involved in the community and has served on the board of SPAR for three years, most recently as Vice President. She has either led or worked with committees on initiatives that impact the quality of life in our historic district. She is the current Chair of the City of Jacksonville's Environmental Protection Board and was recently elected Vice Chair of the Urban Core CPAC.

Michelle is a dedicated community leader and respected advocate for small businesses and neighborhoods. Over the past 30 years she has worked in the construction industry as a project manager, risk manager and various other roles. She continues her involvement with civic and business organizations to support Florida’s entrepreneurs and citizens working with state and local government to grow small businesses, strengthen our communities and improve our neighborhoods

 

  Charles Garrison 

Garrison_Head_Shot.jpgCharles Garrison joined Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in 2011. His experience ranges in all areas of mortgage financing, including: originations, underwriting, processing, loan modifications, and short sales.

In 2012, Charles founded the Wells Fargo Northeast Florida PRIDE Team Member Network and is the current chapter chair. Through this organization, he has been able to provide a voice for the local Wells Fargo lesbian, gay, bi, transgender (LGBT), and ally team members. Charles has made strides in connecting Wells Fargo to the local LGBT community in Northeast Florida. Each year, the Northeast Florida PRIDE Team Member Network participates in the River City Pride parade and festival and hosts a holiday party where toys are collected and donated to Holiday Helpers, an organization that helps children that affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS have a holiday season they normally would not be able to have.

Through Wells Fargo, Charles is very active with the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), serving on the Remodelers Council of NEFBA, and Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR).

In addition to his work through Wells Fargo, Charles serves on the Board of Directors for J.A.S.M.Y.N., The Jacksonville Area Sexual Minority Youth Network, and serves on the Fund Development Committee of HandsOn Jacksonville, a volunteer oriented organization.

After 4 years in the Army as an Infantryman, Charles leads by the motto "Follow Me!". He has the natural ability to bring many people with many differing opinions together to accomplish a single goal.

Charles, a resident of W. 6th Street, is very interested in joining the Board of Directors of SPAR, as he wants to help the community where he lives and works thrive, grow, and prosper.
