Thank you 2018 volunteers!

We’re counting down to 2019 and Springfield’s Sesquicentennial by looking back at 2018 and giving thanks. From now until the new year, join us in celebrating the past year. On this first day, we’d like to recognize our volunteers!
This year we had over 200 volunteers for Jax PorchFest, donating over 500 hours of time to help make this the most successful #JaxPorchFest to date. From planning to beer pouring, and set-up to break down; these volunteers ensured it was a fantastic day for the approximate 15,000 attendees!
We also hosted seven clean-ups in the neighborhood this year. Over 140 volunteers donated over 280 hours of their time and collected 155 bags of debris and trash! Thanks to these volunteers there is less debris on our streets and in our waterways.
For the 2018 Historic Springfield Tour of Homes, over 100 volunteers donated over 200 hours of their time to make the 40th annual event a success! The Tour of Homes is one of SPAR’s signature events, and we couldn’t do it without all the help from volunteers.
In September, we gave back to a senior Springfield couple who have lived in the neighborhood for 25 years with our Residential Revival Project. Over 55 volunteers donated over 125 hours to the project, which helped to protect the historic fabric of our community.
Volunteers also helped at St. Patrick’s Day on Main Street, Oktoberfest on Main Street, Second Sundays, and various other events this year!
SPAR committee members donate their time throughout the year, and we’re happy for all of their help in moving our mission forward!
We’d also like to give a special shout-out to the SPAR Board for their countless hours throughout the year that are dedicated to facilitating positive change in the neighborhood. We are proud to have a true working board, and are grateful for their service to SPAR.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time this year! Our successes as an organization are also yours!
