Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council (SPAR) is now hiring an Executive Director.
SPAR was established in 1974 to serve Jacksonville's Springfield historic district neighborhood, a one square mile residential and commercial area just north of Downtown Jacksonville. The organization works with City of Jacksonville, developers, organizations and individuals to help build and preserve its unique community through advocacy, events and education.
In the past few years, both the neighborhood and SPAR have experienced tremendous growth and continued interest. We have established Jacksonville Porchfest as the premier music festival in Jacksonville while expanding additional programming, assisted several new businesses in opening by awarding facade grants, completed a $500K capital campaign to restore and renovate our Main Street office building, and celebrated Springfield’s 150th anniversary by transforming a highly visible vacant lot into a popular community greenspace, Sesquicentennial Park.
