Springfield​ ​Preservation​ ​and​ ​Revitalization Executive​ ​Director

The​ ​Executive​ ​Director​ ​is​ ​the​ ​Senior​ ​Executive​ ​of​ ​Springfield​ ​Preservation​ ​and Revitalization​ ​(SPAR).​ ​The​ ​Executive​ ​Director​ ​is​ ​responsible​ ​to​ ​and​ ​is​ ​evaluated​ ​by​ ​the Executive​ ​Committee​ ​and​ ​works​ ​at​ ​the​ ​direction​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​President.​ ​As​ ​a​ ​volunteer driven​ ​organization,​ ​SPAR​ ​leans​ ​heavily​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Executive​ ​Director​ ​to​ ​manage​ ​daily​ ​activities, expand​ ​fundraising​ ​activities​ ​to​ ​support​ ​existing​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​drive​ ​expansion.​ ​They​ ​also provide​ ​needed​ ​support​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Board​ ​in​ ​order​ ​to​ ​accomplish​ ​goals.

The​ ​Executive​ ​Director​ ​is​ ​responsible​ ​for​ ​the​ ​planning,​ ​organizing,​ ​staffing,​ ​motivating, directing​ ​and​ ​management​ ​of​ ​Board​ ​objectives​ ​and​ ​directives,​ ​consistent​ ​with​ ​the organization’s​ ​mission​ ​and​ ​financial​ ​objectives.​ ​This​ ​description​ ​is​ ​intended​ ​to​ ​be​ ​broad​ ​and the​ ​duties​ ​of​ ​this​ ​position​ ​will​ ​vary​ ​and​ ​grow​ ​as​ ​the​ ​organization​ ​advances. Compensation is competitive and negotiable.

 

Fund​ ​Acquisition​ ​/​ ​Administration

  1. Actively​ ​seeks​ ​out​ ​funding​ ​opportunities​ ​through​ ​grants,​ ​sponsorships, donations,​ ​or​ ​gifts​ ​that​ ​align​ ​with​ ​the​ ​organization's​ ​mission​ ​&​ ​values.

  2. Maintains​ ​reporting​ ​and​ ​attends​ ​all​ ​required​ ​meetings​ ​or​ ​hearings​ ​related​ ​to funding​ ​sources.

  3. Develops​ ​and​ ​maintains​ ​positive​ ​relationships​ ​with​ ​funders​ ​and​ ​sponsors​ ​to garner​ ​new​ ​opportunities.

  4. Provides​ ​regular​ ​financial​ ​health​ ​updates​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Board.

 

General​ ​Business​ ​Administration​ ​/​ ​Management

  1. Manages​ ​day-to-day​ ​activities​ ​of​ ​the​ ​organization:

    1. Be​ ​responsible​ ​for​ ​recruiting,​ ​interviewing​ ​and​ ​recommending​ ​new​ ​staff

      hires​ ​to​ ​the​ ​board​ ​for​ ​approval.

    2. Manages​ ​paid​ ​and​ ​unpaid​ ​staff​ ​daily​ ​activities.

    3. Oversees​ ​administrative​ ​budgets.

  2. Manages​ ​organizational​ ​assets:

    1. Creates​ ​and​ ​maintains​ ​a​ ​contact​ ​management​ ​solution​ ​for​ ​vendors,

      sponsors,​ ​funders,​ ​and​ ​volunteers.

    2. Assists​ ​with​ ​property​ ​management​ ​as​ ​needed.

    3. Identifies​ ​potential​ ​investment​ ​activity​ ​for​ ​the​ ​organization​ ​and

      recommend​ ​purchases​ ​to​ ​the​ ​board​ ​when​ ​relevant.

    4. Participates​ ​in​ ​Budget​ ​and​ ​Finance​ ​Committee​ ​meetings​ ​and​ ​provide

      input​ ​as​ ​needed.

  3. Coordinates​ ​membership​ ​activity:

    1. Oversees​ ​membership​ ​activity​ ​and​ ​coordinates​ ​membership​ ​drives.

    2. Manages​ ​the​ ​membership​ ​education​ ​and​ ​volunteer​ ​opportunity

      programs.

    3. Manages​ ​and​ ​coordinates​ ​Strategic​ ​Plan​ ​and​ ​its​ ​directives.

    4. Maintains​ ​membership​ ​lists​ ​and​ ​records.

 

Community​ ​Development

  1. Promotes​ ​preservation​ ​activities​ ​throughout​ ​the​ ​Springfield​ ​Historic​ ​District:

    1. Understands​ ​and​ ​updates​ ​historic​ ​preservation​ ​guideline​ ​resources.

    2. Promotes​ ​and​ ​distributes​ ​SAMBA​ ​member,​ ​vendor​ ​and​ ​contractor​ ​lists

      as​ ​requested.

    3. Creates​ ​and​ ​manages​ ​educational​ ​programs​ ​related​ ​to​ ​historic

      preservation​ ​&​ ​community​ ​development.

  2. Maintains​ ​board​ ​and​ ​outside​ ​entities​ ​awareness​ ​of​ ​neighborhood​ ​issues​ ​and

    concerns:

    1. Fosters​ ​and​ ​manages​ ​the​ ​relationship​ ​between​ ​SPAR​ ​and​ ​local

      municipal,​ ​civic,​ ​religious​ ​and​ ​philanthropic​ ​groups.

    2. Builds​ ​positive​ ​working​ ​relationships​ ​with​ ​key​ ​leaders​ ​including​ ​current

      City​ ​Council​ ​Representative​ ​and​ ​represents​ ​the​ ​interests​ ​of​ ​the

      organization​ ​at​ ​appropriate​ ​city​ ​meetings.

  3. Encourages​ ​business​ ​development:

    1. Provides​ ​and​ ​coordinates​ ​board​ ​assistance​ ​to​ ​SAMBA.

    2. Follows​ ​leads​ ​for​ ​business​ ​interest​ ​and​ ​forwards​ ​to​ ​board/SAMBA

      members​ ​for​ ​additional​ ​assistance​ ​as​ ​needed.

    3. Creates​ ​a​ ​business​ ​development​ ​fund​ ​to​ ​provide​ ​financial​ ​assistance​ ​and

      loans​ ​to​ ​promote​ ​growth.

    4. Attends​ ​Main​ ​Street​ ​America​ ​programs​ ​and​ ​coordinates​ ​the​ ​formation

      and​ ​submission​ ​of​ ​Program​ ​for​ ​accreditation.

 

Board​ ​of​ ​Directors/Governance

A. ​ ​Serves​ ​as​ ​the​ ​Executive​ ​Secretary​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Board:

  1. Attends​ ​and​ ​participates​ ​in​ ​all​ ​Board​ ​meetings​ ​as​ ​a​ ​non-voting​ ​member

    while​ ​collecting​ ​minutes​ ​to​ ​be​ ​published​ ​on​ ​the​ ​board​ ​website.

  2. Advises​ ​on​ ​how​ ​board​ ​activity​ ​will​ ​affect​ ​the​ ​organization’s​ ​daily​ ​and

    future​ ​activities​ ​and​ ​goals.

  3. Manages​ ​filing​ ​of​ ​meeting​ ​minutes​ ​and​ ​all​ ​other​ ​legal​ ​documents

    pertaining​ ​to​ ​board​ ​status.

B.​ ​​ ​Conducts​ ​committee​ ​oversight:

  1. Coordinates​ ​with​ ​committee​ ​chairs​ ​as​ ​needed​ ​to​ ​ensure​ ​assets​ ​are available​ ​to​ ​perform​ ​the​ ​duties​ ​as​ ​assigned.

  2. Assists​ ​in​ ​achieving​ ​and​ ​developing​ ​committee​ ​goals​ ​with​ ​regard​ ​to strategic​ ​plan​ ​and​ ​organizational​ ​growth.

 

Marketing/Event​ ​Coordination

  1. Drives​ ​Marketing​ ​and​ ​Promotion:

    1. Assists​ ​in​ ​creation​ ​and​ ​management​ ​of​ ​marketing​ ​programs.

    2. Assists​ ​with​ ​developing​ ​SPAR​ ​branded​ ​products​ ​and​ ​merchandise​ ​for

      approval.

    3. Manages​ ​external​ ​communication​ ​and​ ​the​ ​public​ ​image​ ​of​ ​SPAR.

    4. Assists​ ​with​ ​the​ ​SPAR​ ​website​ ​and​ ​overall​ ​social​ ​media​ ​presence.

  2. Manages​ ​Events:

    1. Coordinates​ ​and​ ​assembles​ ​event​ ​committees​ ​to​ ​facilitate​ ​all​ ​sponsored

      events​ ​including​ ​Porchfest,​ ​Second​ ​Sundays,​ ​July​ ​4th​ ​Baseball​ ​game,​ ​and

      the​ ​Spring​ ​Home​ ​Tour.

    2. Seeks​ ​out​ ​opportunities​ ​for​ ​involvement,​ ​community​ ​support,

      sponsorship​ ​and​ ​cross​ ​promotion.

    3. Conducts​ ​rigorous​ ​program​ ​evaluation​ ​to​ ​ensure​ ​programs​ ​are

      appropriate​ ​for​ ​the​ ​community​ ​and​ ​the​ ​financials​ ​are​ ​well​ ​understood

 

Required​ ​Skills,​ ​Experience​ ​and​ ​Training:

  1. Bachelors​ ​or​ ​Masters​ ​degree

  2. Proven​ ​track​ ​record​ ​of​ ​success​ ​in​ ​a​ ​leadership​ ​position

  3. Minimum​ ​5​ ​years​ ​of​ ​Jacksonville​ ​based​ ​nonprofit​ ​leadership​ ​is​ ​preferred

  4. Successful​ ​resource​ ​development​ ​and​ ​fundraising​ ​experience

  5. Strong​ ​knowledge​ ​of​ ​financial​ ​and​ ​accounting​ ​rules​ ​and​ ​procedures

  6. Experience​ ​in​ ​public​ ​speaking​ ​/​ ​public​ ​relations

  7. Media​ ​experience​ ​preferred​ ​(TV,​ ​radio​ ​&​ ​print​ ​interviews)

  8. Integrity,​ ​strong​ ​work​ ​ethic

  9. Knowledge​ ​of​ ​Google​ ​suite​ ​products​ ​and​ ​Google​ ​Drive​ ​storage,​ ​Quickbooks,​ ​and

    Campaigner​ ​preferred

  10. Ability​ ​to​ ​work​ ​a​ ​flexible​ ​schedule​ ​and​ ​quickly​ ​adapt​ ​to​ ​change

  11. Maintains​ ​a​ ​positive​ ​synergy​ ​within​ ​a​ ​team​ ​environment

  12. Ability​ ​to​ ​delegate​ ​and​ ​communicate​ ​for​ ​assistance​ ​when​ ​needed

  13. Experience​ ​working​ ​with​ ​City​ ​of​ ​Jacksonville,​ ​JEA,​ ​Jacksonville​ ​Transit​ ​Authority,

    and​ ​other​ ​contacts​ ​preferred
