Community Calendar

Our community is known for it's neighborhood activities, both planned and impromptu. The Community Calendar highlights some of the larger events, but there are many others as well.

Reoccurring monthly meetings include the SPAR Council Board of Directors meetings, which are open to the public and held every 3rd Monday of the month @ 6pm inside of Southern Moss Realty, 1501 N. Main Street. This location is temporary, while our regular location recovers from hurricane damage. And also Sheriff's Watch meetings, held every 4th Tuesday of the month @ 6pm at the Kennedy Community Center at 1133 Ionia Street, on the 2nd floor.

Join your neighbors & friends at our annual Hogans Creek Clean Up! Join the Event Page to stay updated.

Over decades of neglect, Hogans Creek has accumulated a huge amount of garbage, bottles, clothing, shopping carts, bicycles, and other random junk clogging the waterway and polluting our parks (see photo from last year!). But, each & every year chip away at that, with the help of the St. Johns Riverkeeper and City of Jacksonville.

This can't be done without selfless volunteers, like yourself. It's a family friendly activity, all ages are welcome, with a lite breakfast (coffee, juice, bagels, etc) provided to volunteers.

We'll provide the trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers . . . and it would be FANTASTIC if volunteers brought kayaks, pole nets, pole hooks, gloves, canoes, and really anything else to snag trash from the creek. We'll sign off on volunteers hours, give you loads of karma points, and the St. Johns Riverkeeper will give you a free t-shirt too.

Meet at Klutho Park, at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Boulevard.
